Google has discounted its YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Premium subscription plans for full-time college students in the United States.
The following plans are available to students with discounted pricing:
Additionally, if you are a college student from the United States who signs up for YouTube Premium by July 13, 2025, Google will treat you to an even lower rate at $6 per month.
Those prices are good for the entire duration of the student membership up to four years.
YouTube Music Premium offers ad-free music streaming through a dedicated desktop and mobile app. It includes the entire former Google Play Music catalog, plus YouTube’s exclusive mixes, covers and live performances, as well as thousands of playlists.
Other capabilities in YouTube Music Premium include listening recommendations based on your history, what you’re doing and where you are, and perks such as lyric search, background listening and downloads for offline listening.
AsTechCrunchreported Tuesday, this is the first major change to Google’s YouTube subscription services since the YouTube Music launch in May.

YouTube says full-time students at an accredited college or university in the US can take advantage of the new student pricing. Those discounts will roll out to users in other countries later in the future. The service doesn’t require an @edu email, so students can keep the account when they graduate.
Earlier this month, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium expanded to seven new countries: Chile, Colombia, Japan, Peru, Portugal, Switzerland and Ukraine. YouTube Premium is currently available in 29 markets and YouTube Music Premium is available in 21 markets, according toGoogle’s support documentat the time of this writing.
Half-priced student plans are offered by other services, too, like Spotify and Apple Music.
