With us getting ever closer to the May release date ofDark Souls Remastered, you may find yourself getting nostalgic when you consider your return to Lordran. You remember that time when you died horribly? Ah, good times! Well, one player - Twitter userDriftItem- has been busy producing a visualisation of where the most players have left bloodstains and messages - making it a handy death map of Lordran.

“I’m collecting the data with a custom game client I wrote. Data preservation is one of my goals. DS1 multiplayer data isn’t stored on a central server but traded between clients. Once the DS1 remaster comes out and player number go down, a lot of data would get lost for ever.” - DriftItem

Dark Souls: The Death Map.

Each orange light represents roughly 12,000 bloodstains, while each blue light is roughly 8,000 messages. Check out the map below:

It’s worthwhile noting that so far he has only released a portion of the map. I hope he’ll release the full map at a later date. That outcropping on the far right is where you first meetSolaire, so the density of messages there is predictable. The bridge to his left is regularly scorched by thehellkite wyvern. The one above it is the area of theTaurus Demonfight. Both areas glow brightly in this map due to the orange bloodstains.

TheCapra Demonand Gargoyles areas are both common death traps. The little path towardsUndead Burg, fromFirelink Shrine, is clearly also difficult for many players. To help simplify things further,DriftItemhas also released a captioned version of the death map:
