In just a few short weeks, Paramount will unleash its upcoming sequelTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowsin theaters, which is shaping up to be one of this summer’s biggest hits. Over the weekend, the studio held its world premiere of this action-packed sequel at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden, where the fans were treated to quite the big surprise. Before the movie began, rapperVanilla Iceunexpectedly emerged from the crowd, to perform his song “Ninja Rap” fromTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.
For those who weren’t in attendance at the New York premiere, theParamount Pictures YouTubepage posted a video of the rapper’s surprise performance of Ninja Rap, a.k.a. Go Ninja Go.Vanilla Icewas also joined by the 1990sheroes in a half-shellthemselves, wearing the vintageTMNTcostumes, as they brought they house down before the movie started. The song “Ninja Rap” was featured in a crucial scene from the original sequel, withVanilla Iceappearing as himself performing alongside the Turtles, and it was also included on the original soundtrack.
WhileVanilla Icemay not appear inTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, the sequel will feature plenty of characters that longtime fans of the franchise will surely enjoy.Brian Teestars as Shredder, while fan-favorite villainsBebop & Rocksteady(Gary Anthony WilliamsandStephen Farrelly) will be featured as well.Stephen Amellwill portray the iconicCasey Jones, whileTyler Perryalso stars as Baxter Stockman. One of the franchise’s most iconic villains, Krang, will also play a huge part in the story.Fred Armisenoriginally came aboard to provide the voice for Krang, but we reported last week he never actually signed on, and was replaced byBrad Garrett.
After super villain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: The notorious Krang. We don’t know for sure how Krang fits into the story, or if his massive Technodrome will be featured in the sequel.
