It is not a surprise that action stars put their bodies through rigorous training to look a certain way before filming for movies. Chris Pratt allegedly did the same back in 2010 when he decided to drop almost 30 pounds to portray the role of Scott Hatteberg in the sports biographical drama movie,Moneyball.

After changing a lot of directors like David Frankel and Steven Soderbergh,Moneyballfinally appointed Bennett Miller at the helm and the movie turned out to be a success at the box office.Moneyballeven ended up receiving 6 nominations at that year’s Academy Awards.

Chris Prattwas already making headlines back in 2009 for portraying the role of Andy Dwyer in the sitcomParks and Recreation. After the actor auditioned for the role of Scott Hatteberg, he was informed that he might not get the role because of his physical features as he was allegedly ‘too fat‘ for the role. Pratt once revealed how he got the role in the movie. He said,

“My agent called me and said, ‘Chris, they really thought you were good, but they think you’re too fat’. I was like, ‘F*ck, really? That sucks. OK, well, I can lose weight. Did you tell them I could lose weight?’ ‘Yeah, we told them. They haven’t offered it to anyone else. There’s no guarantee, but…'”

The actor further revealed that was so hell-bent to star inMoneyball, he went on to lose 30 pounds in 3 months just to play the role in the movie. He said,

“It was another three months before I found out I got the role, but in that three months, I think I dropped 30 pounds. I was bound and determined to become Scott Hatteberg whether they cast me or not.”

However, it was later revealed that his motivation and determination were only for his role in the movie, as he gained a lot of weight afterMoneyballto be cast in another movie.

After playing the role of Scott Hatteberg inMoneyball, Chris Pratt’s next project required him to portray the role of a fat, alcoholic man named Cully, in the movie,10 Years. Pratt talked about his physical transformation fromMoneyballto10 Yearsand said,

“I went from 220 pounds that I cut down for Moneyball to almost 270-280 pounds for 10 Years. I gained — s*it, like 50 pounds to play this fat, alcoholic character. That made it really fun. I would drink dark beer every night. I would have a double order of pancakes every morning. Burgers for lunch. Fries, snacks, candy. I ballooned my weight up. It was probably very unhealthy, but it was so fun.”

Although10 Yearswas a well-cast movie, the movie was allegedly ‘too predictable‘ for the viewers. It received average reviews both from critics and fans.
