Before you read this next bit of news, you must remember what series creator Eric Kripke once said. It’s not jumping the shark if you never land. AndSupernaturalhas taken that mantra to new levels every season. But in the next run this fall, they may have just topped themselves. Because, yes, it’s true. The Winchestersare about to team up with Scooby-Doo.
The news ofSam and Deancalling on Scooby-Doo for help was announced at The CW Upfront presentation in New York this morning. This is amazing news if you’re a fan of bothSupernaturaland the sleuthing canine who runs with Mystery Inc. most of the time. Sam, Dean and Scooby will unite in an animated episode for amystery-solving adventureat some point during the 2017-2018 fall season.

Supernatural starsJensen Acklesand Jared Padalecki were on hand to make the announcement themselves, appearing at The CW’s annual Upfront presentation. They teased that the episode will be very ‘colorful’ and that the story will take place fully in the animated world of Scooby-Doo. This is made possible as The CW’s Supernatural comes from Warner Bros. TV, home to the animated mutt.
It wasn’t revealed if Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne will be putting in a co-starring appearance. But we have to admit, one of the funnest moments could be an on-screen pairing between Jensen Ackles' Dean and that old annoying pooch Scrappy-Doo.
This is by far one of Sam and Dean’s most far-out storylines ever attempted. And this is coming from a show that has already introduced a monster slaying musical, an episode told from the POV of a car, and an adventure set in the real world Sam and Dean become their real-life alter egos Jared and Jensen, the Double Js.
In its 13 year run,Supernaturalhas parodied every TV trope from the medical procedural shows to cheesy sitcoms. They even dabbled in animated episodes before with the Season 8 episode Hunteri Heroici. There is also a Japanese anime series based on the Supernatural TV show that features the vocal talents of both stars.
At this time, the Scooby-Doo episode doesn’t have an official airdate. But it should debut in the first half of Season 13. At this time, there isno end in sightfor the long running TV series. And fans will most likley embrace this wacky turn of events. Supernatural is The CW’s longest running series, and could go on for a very long time. So things need to stay new and fresh. And this is certainly on that trajectory. We have the first image of Sam, Dean and Scooby all together.
