Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman With 8.1MP And Sony MediaGo
Sony Ericsson have announced the W995 Walkman phone at Mobile World Congress this evening, an 8.1-megapixel cameraphone with A-GPS, WiFi and a 2.6-inch QVGA scratch-resistant display. There’s also DLNA support, 118MB of onboard storage and a Memory Stick M2 slot; there’ll be an 8GB M2 card in the box.
Rather than just audio, this Walkman phone puts the emphasis on video too, with a built-in kick-stand for hands-free viewing. The Sony Ericsson W995 will come in Progressive Black, Cosmic Silver and Energetic Red. It will also be the first device to include Sony’s new MediaGo technology, which handles streamed media to a device – mobile or otherwise – automatically adjusting for screen-size and bandwidth, together with SE’s existing PlayNow audio service.
The company has also announced a movie option to PlayNow, which will be subscription-based and offer unlimited movie downloads to a PC and then transfer to a mobile device such as the W995. No word on pricing or availability for either the W995 Walkman or the PlayNow Movies service; we’ll update once we’ve heard any more details.
