Team Ninja unveils a game seven years in the making, Rise of the Ronin an Action-RPG is releasing in 2024.
Rise of the Ronin is Team Ninja’s Next Historical Action-RPG
The nextAction-RPGfor Team Ninja is a historical based Japanese set Rise of the Ronin. The Playstation 5 exclusive game was announced during the Playstation State of Play today. The new trailer announced the title and gave a peek at the trial and tribulations of western influence during the tense times in 1863 Japan, during the civil war.
The video shows a bird soaring through a city, finally sighting a lone ronin upon a hilltop. It then shows ships from the west and troubles plaguing the people being ruled by Tokugawa.
We then get stunning views from above with the warrior gliding above the town. Combat shows sword fights and the Ronin lassoing an enemy before unleashing flames. There are also muskets being used at close range. The description teases players will be taking on the life of a Ronin, and an “immersive combat-focused action experience”.
Rise as One
On the Playstation Blog, director and president at Team Ninja, Fumihiko Yasuda shared the game will be an “open-world action RPG” during the Edo Period known as Bakumatsu. The struggles during this time are not only from oppressive leaders but deadly diseases and an encroaching western influence. The civil war is between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Anti-Shogunate factions.
While Ninja in the past has had many historical-based games, Ronin will be combining their experience over years and setting the “next big step” for the developer. Making this project the “most ambitious and challenging project” for the team.
No doubt the developer’s experience working onNioh 2, will help in making this action combat title fluid in sword fighting while opening up the game with the use of gliding to explore.
Rise of the Roninwill be released in 2024 for Playstation 5.
