Hello, Gamers!
If you, like myself, are a bit of a rough and tumble gamer that likes to go off the beaten path once in a while, you may feel like you come out of situations more scathed than originally anticipated!
In Nightingale, the game gives you the freedom to interact with the world as you please. Unfortunately, this could be to your benefit or detriment, as it fully allows you to put yourself into situations that can kill you in the tutorial. Being that this is a survival game, that’s no surprise, but knowing how to arm yourself against injuries is more important than anything in this game. It’s not like you can justnot explore, right?
To stave off injuries to your person on account of your curiosity, you will need to learn how to make Healing Salves. Healing Salves come in tiers, but you will not be able to make the highest tier Healing Salve right out of the gate with this game. Instead, you will start with just Crude salves - and that’s more than enough for the beginning of the game.
After you reach theSwamp Biome, you will get access to create your first Healing Salve.
You will not be able to make Healing Salves before reaching this point, so try not to die just yet.
How to Make Healing Salve (Crude)
In order to create Healing Salves, you need the following:
Let’s go over how to get each of these together.
How to Get Bones
Once you get to the Swamp Biome in the Tutorial, your Fae friend will task you with collecting Bones and Leather from the monsters in the area. These bipedal creatures have a jump attack, but it doesn’t home, so make sure you sidestep them as you hunt them.
How to Get Fibres
In Nightingale, there is an abundance of plants in the world that you can pick. Simply by mashing E as you walk, you can grab things like Sticks and Fibres - both of which you will need to make Healing Salve. Simply walk up to some plants, mash E, and collect everything that you can in the area!
Once you have collected everything, go to a nice open area and make yourself a campfire. you’re able to do this by opening the building menu, ‘B’ is the default keybinding for this.

Once you have it open, you can interact with the campfire and drop some of the Sticks into it. This will be your fuel, which you will need to actually have a fire to begin with. When it is lit, you can then click on the pot above the fire to go into the crafting menu.
The campfire will show you all that you’re able to make at the moment. Click onto Healing Salve, and either manually enter the ingredients you would like to use or simply press the ‘Autofill’ button. From here, you can then craft the Healing Salves.

Healing Salves will help you stave off all manners of ailments, including Disease and other injuries. It can be used to heal away any damage you’ve taken from anything, so it’s a good idea to have a bunch of these on hand from the very beginning!
