MindsEye players are already demanding refund a day after release
MindsEye, the new action-adventure shooter from formerGTAdev Leslie Benzies, has received plenty of criticism after launch full of bugs and issues, and players are already demanding refunds.
There’s been plenty of skepticism surroundingMindsEye in the lead-upto launch. While the initial trailer back in 2022 generated some real hype, and there’s plenty of talent to be found in Build a Rocket Boy studio, those who previewed the game called it a “mess.”

This led toBenzies accusing players of being paid to criticize the game, but this didn’t stop the devs fromrevealing post-launch plans for multiplayer. With all this in mind, eyes were firmly locked on the futuristic sandbox when it launched on June 10.
But instead of proving the doubters wrong, MindsEye arrived with a host of major bugs and performance issues, and many players are already demanding a refund.

Sony already offering refunds for MindsEye
As soon as the game was released, social media was flooded with posts sharing some of the hilarious and harrowing bugs players were encountering.
One of the most disturbing was characters with melting faces, which instantly reminded fans of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s infamously buggy launch.

This is hardly the only issue, either, as MindsEye has been described as a “technical disaster.” Not only is it locked to 30 FPS on console, but players on all platforms are reporting regular crashes and huge drops in performance.
MindsEye is a complete technical DISASTER.Avoid this game right now at ALL COSTS.– Locked to 30FPS across all consoles and suffers from constant stutter issues– Messy performance on PC (Unreal Engine 5)– Very buggy across the board– Crash issues for many people on both PC…pic.twitter.com/9zKlEghXD1

Although the devs haveconfirmedthat they’re working on improving performance, some players have already seen enough, with many requesting refunds less than 24 hours in.

“Refunded after 22 minutes. I like to give games a chance on launch. But when the FPS drops and screen tearing is that bad. Also, NPC’s just dropping from the sky. No thanks,” said one player on Reddit. “How can you warrant charging £55 for that monstrosity. I’ll come back when it’s ready, but right now it’s a shambles.”
“Refunded the game, that was painful. Not only did your marketing fail you, but the overall game failed us,” said another onX.
Sony are already offering hassle-free refunds, much like they did with Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most notoriously broken launches of all time. Reddit user ‘MasterOfMoogles1995’ shared their interaction with PlayStation Support, where the advisor confirmed that the “situation is currently under investigation” regarding MindEye.
However, players on other platforms haven’t been so lucky, with one Xbox user being denied their money back, despite less than one hour of playtime.
Be warned@MindsEyeGameis a hot unplayable mess.I preordered, and it is a stuttering, blurry, soulless game.I urge anyone looking to buy this game to wait for a significant discount or skip entirely.Xbox denied my refund with less than an hour of playtime#MindsEyepic.twitter.com/Nfgk46lmIM
We’ve seen plenty of examples of games bouncing back after difficult launches, with Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, and No Man’s Sky being some of the most high-profile examples. So, while it’s too early to write MindsEye off completely, there’s no doubt that the devs have their work cut out.
