Capcom’sMega Man Xaction-platformer is split into 10 stages, the first being a tutorial or introduction stage, 8 main stages and then the final stage. Any of the 8 main stages can be done in any order you choose but clearing a stage will have an affect on other stages for better or for worse, so be alert on the select changes. Below is a guide for the last stage, the Sigma stage and it’s boss Sigma. I will explain each enemy and bosses you will face in this stage which is split up into 4 main parts.
Mega Man X: Sigma Stage & Sigma Guide
In this stage you revisit bosses and enemies you have faced in the previous levels as well as some new ones. This stage being the last in the Mega Man X series combines the different fights together into 4 parts. This contains Sigma Stage Part 1, Sigma Stage Part 2, Sigma Stage Part 3 and Sigma Stage Part 4. Each will have a host of enemies which you will need to tackle to make it through to the final part of the stage to face the final boss Sigma himself. I will explain each of the enemies you will face and the best way to defeat them in this step-by-step guide.
Sigma Stage Part 1
The level will start up with Zero instructing you to split up with him, so he can keep the defense forces busy while you make your entrance. Head right and take out theMega Tortoisesenemies as well as theJammingersflying about a storm tornado. Players will reach floating machine platforms that must be jumped from one to the other, until players have reached the top. Players can choose to scale the wall using dash jumps to avoid the moving platforms.
Once at the top, you’ll have to deal with someTurn Cannons,Gun Volts, andBall De Vouxs. When you get past them, keep climbing up the ladders until you reach the top, where you’ll then have to fightVile. First throw the fight by taking damage as it intended to lose. Zero will then break free and enable round 2. Fight seriously this time by using Rolling Shield, Homing Torpedo, or Storm Tornado to take out lots of health from Vile. This fight shouldn’t take long, use the dash jump to evade him if he gets too close. When Vile is defeated players will receive the Buster Upgrade from Zero if they didn’t already obtained it which will unlock atrophy.

After the Vile fight head right, bypassing theHoganmersand floating mobs. Use dash jump on the spring to quickly avoid this part. When players care climbing up the walls players must avoid or take out the Hoganmers,Sine Fallerand Dodge Blasters. Using the charged ability of Chameleon Sting will allow easy access to the boss. Once at the top players will encounterBoomer Kuwangeryet again. You can take him down quickly by taking advantage of his weakness using Homing Torpedo.
Once Boomer Kuwanger is defeated, continue heading right bypassing all theMetall C-15andSpikeys. An easy way to do so is to use the Chameleon Sting’s alternate fire, then just dash through to the next boss fight.

Bospidercan be taken down by using Shotgun Ice. Bospider will attempt to crash into the player or he will release four miniature spiders. Watch where Bospider is traveling along the vines to avoid taking damage from him. Once he touches the floor, the red eye on his back will open, this is his weak spot. Shoot the red eye to damage Bospider and repeat the process until his death.
Sigma Stage Part 2
Start the stage by heading to the right, blastingBattonsas they spawn on the screen with Homing Torpedo. Hop on the moving platform and make sure to destroy the Battons andFlamminglesthat clutter the path ahead. Climb up the wall destroying the last Battons and Flammingles. Head through the gate entrance to fightChill Penguin. He will be defeated very quickly if players use Flame Wave.
Leave the area where Chill Penguin was located and head right. Destroy the armored soldier before he has a chance to jump into the Mech Armor and proceed pass theDig Labours,Sine Fallersand armored soldiers. Players can choose to use the Mech Armor if they wish. At the end of the route will be a ladder, climb it to start the next part.

Climb up the walls avoiding theDodge Blasters, Sine Fallers, andTurn Cannons. Using Chameleon Sting’s alternate fire will make traversing this portion a breeze. Continue on this path to reach Storm Eagle. Use the same tactics as before like using Chameleon Sting to defeat him quickly.
Head towards the right to start the next area which is full of Battons,Hoganmers, andSpinies. Use the Chameleon Sting’s alternate fire to easily get past them as the tight quarters and numerous enemies poses high risk for taking damage. Enter the gate to reach Rangda Bangda boss.

Rangda Bangda
Rangda Bangda takes the appearance of a giant face. The weak spots of this boss will be each of the eyes and the nose. The blue orb will track the player’s position and will try to run into them. It is moderately slow so take aim with Chameleon Sting. The green orb will fire projectiles at the player. The red orb will shoot projectiles while attempting to ram into the player. All can be shot easily using Chameleon Sting.
Rangda Bangda’s nose will transform into a small robot that will bounces between the walls. When it does, the walls will close in and severely limit the area players can move in. The bottom of the stage will be filled with spikes so clinging to the walls is the only option. Shoot it with Chameleon Sting, Homing Torpedoes, Rolling Shield, or Shotgun Ice.

Sigma Stage Part 3
Climb up and destroy theMega Tortoisewhile avoiding the Turn cannon’s fire. Step through the gate entrance to until you reach a dungeon entrance. Players will fightArmored Armadilloagain so equip electric spark and be ready to shock him.
Next head right, use Chameleon Sting charge ability to bypass theDig LaboursandBatton Bones. Players will fight Sting Chameleon again so use Boomerang Cutter to quickly dispose of him.
Next head right, take out the 2 Dig Labours and car-like enemy. Use Boomerang Cutter to grab the large weapon and energy items. Proceed to fight the next boss Spark Mandrill. Use shotgun ice onSpark Mandrillthen wait until he thaws to shoot him again. If done right he will never touch you.
The next area will haveGulpfersplayers should take out. Make sure to grab the large weapon and energy items if needed. The next boss will beLaunch Octopus. Use Boomerang Cutter to get rid of him tentacles or use Rolling Shield as he exits his whirlpool attack.
Climb up the final segment and use Chameleon Sting charge ability to grab the life item and avoid the last remaining enemies. The final boss of this part is D-Rex.
D-Rex is made of two parts: a top half and a bottom half. His bottom half cannot be damaged so focus solely on the top half. Shoot his top half with basic Buster shots or Boomerang Cutter. Be cautious as players can be stunned at the worst times. D-Rex’s top half will often detach and head to towards the player. Standing directly underneath it will cause it to come down. Use dash jumps to move quickly between the cluttered area. At times, D-Rex may shoot a charged shot at you. To avoid it dash jump towards D-Rex when he releases the shot.
Sigma Stage Part 4
Velguarder
Velguarder is Sigma’s pet, who has the ability to fire electric orbs and flames at the player. He’ll jump onto the wall on the left, then dash towards the right, standing still during this will prevent taking damage. Once he comes towards you, wall dash over him and shoot him with the Shotgun Ice. Climb the opposite wall and repeat until he is destroyed. Players can elect to hide in the corners and wait for him to reach you and shoot him whilst falling. Alternatively, players can use their Mega Buster to damage Velguarder. Any charged shot will make him fall back allowing you to get some basic shots in.
Sigma Phase 1
Sigma’s fight is very similar to his pet. Equip Electric Spark while he talks and when the fight starts, scale the left wall until you reach the top. Sigma will then move in a manner quite similar to his dog, climbing up the walls to reach you. Just before he gets close to you, jump down whilst firing Electric Spark. He will be descend the same way as he ascends, allowing you to fire once more. Repeat this pattern until he is defeated.
Sigma Phase 2
Sigma survives but then merges with a large wolf like robot. This fight is fairly simple but can be highly intimidating. Sigma can shoot flames from the center limiting your space. His two paws will shoot lightning above and below it. Making contact with it on the underside will cause damage to the player. Sigma will also shoot lightning orbs from one side to another. To avoid it stand off center and dash through the empty space. At times, Sigma’s claws will travel diagonal towards the ground to attack the player. Jump over it and use it to take you higher to shoot Sigma. Use Rolling Shield on Sigma’s face. When players are on the paws, stand closer to the wall when firing midair because if you get hit with the lightning you will stay on the paw and not fall down.
Defeating Sigma will grant players the “It’s Over” trophy and will have Mega Man X looking towards the ocean. He then will run on Highway Stage while the game credits stating all the Reploids in each stage. Following that will be the credits of the game. Rejoice as you have completely beaten Mega Man X that was first release in 1993. Beating the game on normal difficulty will net players the"How Long Will He Keep Fighting" trophy.
