Locke & Key Was Meant to Be Three Seasons Long
When Netflix approached theLocke & Keyteam about doing three seasons total, that just happened to work out perfectly, as that’s how the series was conceived from the start. While it might be disappointing for some fans who thought there was potential to go up to at least four seasons, the good news is that the creators were not surprised by getting canceled before they were finished. In actuality, Netflix is allowing them to carry out their vision with a three-season run, which should lend itself toward giving fans a proper ending.
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement. “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.”
The first two seasons ofLocke & Keyare streaming on Netflix. As of now, the third and final season does not have an official release date, but post-production is currently getting wrapped up. Season 3 is expected to arrive sometime in 2022.
