With just over three months to go before the March 25 release date, some fans are wondering if the reveal gave away too much, but directorZack Snydersaid in an interview withThe Daily Beastthat he and Warner Bros. spoke at length about whether or not to include the villain in this trailer. Here’s what the filmmaker revealed, explaining that he wants fans to start thinking about the much biggerDC ComicsExtended Universe this movie helps set up.

“We had a long conversation about just taking ownership of that, of giving it to the audience in a controlled way that I felt was consistent with the escalation of the campaign. To us it really made sense to give [Doomsday] to the audience now. I really wanted to make the audience a promise that… though I’m super excited and happy and fulfilled by the conflict ofBatmanand Superman, there’s also a bigger world to start to think about.”

Batman vs Superman

Last week,Zack Snyderdropped another hint about this ever-expanding universe, teasing that theJustice Leaguewill have a “bigger enemy to fight.” Of course, he didn’t mention any specific villains forJustice League Part 1(August 20, 2025) orJustice League Part 2(August 19, 2025), but there have been rumors that either Darkseid or Brainiac could be the primary villain in those movies. When pressed for more details, the director would only say that the impendingJustice Leaguemovies will also further exploreDoomsday’s “mythology.”

“Well, you have Doomsday, right? He doesn’t just crawl out of the ground. He has his own mythology, right? So that has to be explored.”
