As theMarvel Cinematic Universeenters Phase Three withCaptain America: Civil War, and the DC Extended Universe kicks off in earnest withBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the cinematic landscape will be filled to the brim withsuperhero moviesover the next few years. Both Marvel and DC’s superhero universes are getting bigger and bigger. That only means there will be more opportunities for a various number of roles in these highly-anticipated projects. Over the past few years, we’ve seen esteemed actors such asMichael Douglas,Robert Redford,Ben AffleckandJeremy Ironsstep into the superhero space, but now it seems that another beloved actor is eyeing the genre,Jeff Goldblum.

Jeff Goldblumis certainly no stranger to sci-fi fare, with acclaimed performances inThe Fly,Jurassic ParkandIndependence Day, but he has never previously tackled the superhero genre. As it turns out, that may come to an end, with the actor teasing in anMTVinterview at CinemaCon, that he may be in discussions for an unspecified superhero movie. Here’s what he had to say, when asked if he’s had discussions with eitherMarvel or DC.

“I can say very little right now. But you might be onto something.”

When pressed for any further details, such as whether he prefers Marvel or DC movies, the actor wouldn’t offer any specifics, and he didn’t seem to favor either side over the other. Unfortunately, his vague statement doesn’t help narrow down the choices of what superhero adventure he may be in talks for, so until we get any confirmation from Marvel or DC camps, we’ll have to continue playing the guessing game. Still, the prospect ofJeff Goldblumappearing in a superhero movie is certainly exciting.

The actor will next be seen inIndependence Day: Resurgence, which hits theaters on June 24, and he is also attached for an unspecified voice role in directorWes Anderson’s untitled project, along with a role inThe Modern Ocean. Beyond that, the actor’s schedule appears to be wide open, and with both Marvel and DCdeveloping projectsslated to debut between now and 2020, the possibilities are nearly endless as to what movie he may be eyeing. Of course, the actor could have also simply been playing along with the interviewer, but we don’t know for sure.

On the Marvel side, the next movie that will go into production isThor: Ragnarok, which is scheduled to start shooting this summer in Australia, which will be followed by the two-part adventureAvengers: Infinity War Part 1andAvengers: Infinity War Part 2, which starts a nine-month back-to-back shoot at the end of this year. As for DC, production recently started onJustice League: Part 1, withThe FlashandAquamanmovies slated for release in 2018, although we don’t know when shooting may begin on those movies. We’ll keep you posted onJeff Goldblum’s potential superhero movie appearance as soon as we have more details.
