The DCEU has been undergoing a major change over the past several months, especially after James Gunn decided to take over things. This is largely due to the fact that the new and revamped DCU is a reboot of the whole universe.

That being said, there is one particular movie that is part of both the old universe and yet, part of the revamped one too. The movie is titledBlue Beetle, which was handled by James Gunn. Interestingly enough, the film managed to beat a very popular Marvel movie when it came to a streaming record recently.

Blue BeetleCouldn’t Break The DCEU Dry Spell
Blue Beetlewas released back on 18 August this year in the USA and fans expected the film to somehow end DCEU’s dry spell, as the DCEU had failed to produce a hit film in ages. After all, the likes ofBlack Adam,Shazam 2,and evenThe Flashall failed at the Box Office.
According toBox Office Mojo,Blue Beetlehas earned a little over $129 million over its run in theaters. The film needed $208 million to break even, so it was yet another loss for DC. It also had the second-lowest opening for a DCEU film, withWonder Woman 1984having a lower opening. It did get better reviews than expected, but none of that really matters as it was still a failure at the Box Office.

Blue BeetleActually BeatSpider-Man: Across the Spider-VerseIn An Unexpected Way
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseis undoubtedly one of the best films to come out this year, as it received universal praise from fans and critics alike. After all, it surpassed its prequel Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versein every single way – something that no one ever thought was possible. Therefore, its influence in the realm of animated films cannot be denied.
According toThe Wrap, it was reported thatBlue Beetlebecame the #1 most-streamed film in the USA during the weekend, November 17-19, on Whip Media’s Movie Ranker. While it claimed the top spot,Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versewas ranked #9 on the list – something that no one expected whatsoever.

Blue Beetleseems to have made a resurgence on the streaming apps, which is definitely a good thing. However, that will do nothing to help DC in the long run. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether a sequel toBlue Beetlewill ever be made.
