InFinal Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, there are a handful of mounts added to better your experience of traversing the vast world. There’s a new bike mount, a futuristic turtle mount and a giant robot from Heavensward, but now we have the best mount of them all: a capybara. Or, as they call it in the Final Fantasy universe, a mehwapyarra. That’s right, you’re able to hop on an adorable rodent and fly through the skies of the new areas.
Where to Find
It only makes sense we would get a capybara mount considering we are in the New World, which is meant to be the Americas of the Source. Traveling through the lush forestry of the southern continent, we were bound to run into this oversized rodent, but now we have a means of actually riding on the back of one.
Unfortunately, it’s not so simple to obtain as you don’t simply buy with in-game gil or open your wallets in the cash shop. Instead, you’ll need to go through a bit of trial and tribulations to obtain the smallest mount in Dawntrail.

Special FATE: The Serpentlord Seethes
Similar to the Mica outfit, the Capybara mount requires the player to participate in a special FATE in the world. At the northern part ofShaaloani (X: 13.2 Y: 13.3), you can find every couple of days, a special FATE that will spawn, with a strong worm-like serpent calledTtokrronetaking form. Upon killing this with a group of people, you will obtain six Ttokrrone Scales that can be traded in at the Miscellaneous vendor inSolution Nine (X: 8.7 Y: 13.5).
Sadly, in order to get the Mehwapyarra Whistle, you will need twelve scales, meaning you will have to take down Ttokrrone twice in order to exchange. Once you do that, simply return to the vendor and obtain arguably the best new mount in Dawntrail.
