AsOne Piecefans know, death has been a rarity in the series since the beginning. Eiichiro Oda has made sure that almost every arc of theOne Piecestoryline ends with as few deaths as possible. However, there still have been speculations about a few of theOne Piececharacters succumbing to death by the final war of the series.

This is because most of these characters have been too close to death in the past, hinting that they might not be lucky every time. One such character is in the Straw Hat Pirates as well who generally fights till his very last breath and makes sure that his opponent is defeated no matter what. This character is none other than Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman of the crew.

Since the beginning of the series, Zoro’s battles often ended with him getting too close to death. In fact, the Wano arc was the biggest example of it. Thus there have been speculations amongOne Piecefans about Zoro sacrificing his life in the end for his captain to accomplish his dream.

Ever sinceOne Piecestarted, Zoro has time and time again proved himself to be one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates by using his extraordinary swordsmanship and defeating the opponent. He is the second strongest Straw Hat Pirate and one of the greatest swordsmen in theOne Pieceworld, but all of his battles have ended with him almost encountering death.

It was first seen when he went on to duel with Dracule Mihawk in Baratie and lost brutally. His chest was left wide open, and even after proper treatment, it took him a lot of time to heal properly. After that, when he battled Daz Bones, also known as Mr. 1 in Alabasta,he almost succumbed to deathin trying to cut through his steel.

From there on, almost every arc resulted in Zoro getting one step closer to death. This was officially highlighted byEiichiro Odain the Wano arc when, after Zoro’s battle with King, the Grim Reaper himself appeared in Zoro’s dream to take his life with a scythe.

Zoro might die in the final saga

Considering Zoro’s past experiences with death, it is safe to say that these are some sort of indications that Oda has been leaving within his individual narrative.

These indications, just like every otherOne Piecemystery, might result in something big that will change the storyline in a major way. And their only outcome might be Zoro’s eventual death inOne Piece.

Zoro’s dream is to become the strongest swordsman in the world. In order to do that, he might have to defeat every opponent in his path and ultimately reach the epitome and face Dracule Mihawk once again. But this might not be easy at all considering the level of opponents that have been entering theOne Piecenarrative.

Thus, there is a very real possibility that once Zoro attains his title of being the Strongest Swordsman in the World,he might give up his lifeto save one of his crewmates, most probably Luffy. This might help him achieve his dream of finding theOne Piecetreasure and becoming the Pirate King.
