Henry Cavill has been linked to a lot of disappointments lately. From leaving the role of Geralt of Rivia behind to getting removed from the DC Universe, things weren’t looking too good for the actor last year. While there were a lot of speculations and theories about why exactly Henry Cavill leftThe Witcher, none of them were confirmed, neither by him nor the team of the Netflix show.

Although, the most widely believed reason is that the show was diverging a bit too much from the source material. This supposedly did not sit right with Henry Cavill who loves the source novels and video games and is rightfully known to be a big geek. However, a leak suggested that his exit from the show was because he became difficult to work with and would have too many demands, which included not filming any romantic/shirtless scenes.

A transcript that leaked from the Deuxmoi podcast talked in detail about whenHenry Cavillsupposedly became more and more difficult to work with on the sets ofThe Witcher.According to the transcript, while everything was fine during the filming of season one, all hell broke loose on the sets of seasons two and three.

One thing that is extremely important when it comes to filming big projects is teamwork. If the cast and crew do not get along, their differences could potentially end up ruining the show or movie. That’s what seemed to have happened on the sets of the Netflix original when Cavill made many “unusual demands that made people feel like he wasn’t really a team player.”
According to the anonymous statement, these demands included wanting complete control over the storyline and he even“refused all shirtless and romantic scenes,”even if they called for just kissing. Blaming his gaming addiction for Cavill’s supposed misogyny on the set, the statement talked about how Cavill overruled and ignored the female crew members and would often make mean comments. However, the statement did clarify that none of the comments were s*xual or lewd.

Was Henry Cavill Fired fromThe Witcher?
The transcript which was leaked then went on to talk about Cavill becoming close-knitted with one writer on the show who was also a gamer himself. The writer was eventually fired from his job after a lot of complaints were received by HR regarding him. After the firing, Cavill allegedly made the lives of the team a living hell as he did anything in his power to delay production, causing problems.
Apparently, the next step for the team was to “construct a potential exit”for Cavill, whichLauren Hissrichwas asked to do. When Netflix itself reached out to the actor, he was given one last warning, which he ended up violating with an email. That turned out to be the last straw for the team which might have led to Cavill getting fired.

The team ofThe Witcherhas neither denied nor confirmed the allegations. Cavill, too, has been quiet on the matter. However, there might not be a need for him to even address the rumors as his fan base has absolutely ridiculed the statement, making it quite clear that it’s nothing but fake news. It’s also worth noting that while Deuxmoi sometimes has reliable information, a lot of times it does not.
Whatever may be the case, season three ofThe Witcheris the last we will get to see of Cavill playing the White Wolf as he has already been replaced byLiam Hemsworthwho will be seen in and from, season four. Hemsworth’s addition to the show has been met with a lot of skeptical looks from the fans.
The Witcheris available to stream on Netflix.
