GOG has long been known as the premiere destination for DRM-free PC releases, which comes in handy for those who don’t want to deal with DRM either preventing a game from being played, making it play worse performance-wise, or just being annoying with constant online check-ins. Sony has become known as the destination for long-form single-player epics, really beginning with the God of War series on the PS2 and continuing that trend with Uncharted - making today’s announcement that both series will be available in some form in a DRM-free format soon being rather fitting. Sony has released several of their games viaGOGand GOG is marking the season not only with a big sale, but also the announcement that the 2018 God of War that got a PC release a couple of years ago will now see a DRM-free release via GOG alongside Uncharted: the Legacy of Thieves Collection.

The former includes the first incarnation of the modern version of the series in full, with a slew of PC enhancements while The Legacy of Thieves Collection gets you both Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy side-story game starring Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as the main characters instead of Nathan Drake. Uncharted 4 alone being DRM-free is a huge deal historically and it’s one of my favorite entries in the series, but The Lost Legacy doesn’t get nearly as much love as it should and hopefully this release will allow it to get its flowers.

Timing this announcement release with the annual Halloween sale is a smart move as Sony does have a couple of games on sale, while GOG is also doing a giveaway for The Whisperer - a short story narrative-based point and click adventure that will be given away until November 1. Sony’s own spooky season-perfect Days Gone is on sale for $16.49, bringing it to a very low price point for a DRM-free adventure while Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition also gets DRM-free low price of $16.49.

There are thousands of deals available now with the same as well, but AAA titles like Cyberpunk2077and its Phantom Liberty DLC can be had for $63.99 - or you’re able to get the game alone for $35.99. This has been one of the showcase games for portable PC gaming hardware - but has also been used as a benchmark of sorts for things like the mini PC market as a whole as well as it’s gotten more updates and better-optimized over time.
