Ogawa will not be back this season. Both Christina Ricci and Jamie McShane have been downgraded to guest stars playing Marilyn Thornhill and Tyler’s father, Donovan, respectively. Fred Armisen will also guest star in the series as Wednesday’s Uncle Fester again.

The season 1 finale set up Tyler as the potential villain for season 2. Wednesday actually started to have some romantic feelings for Tyler in the first season before she discovered that he was a Hyde, a monster who did Marilyn’s bidding.

While Thornhill (who was secretly Laurel Gates) seemingly perished in the first season finale, she is revealed to be alive at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. Tyler also survived, and he began to seek his revenge on Wednesday in season 2.

What has Jenna Ortega said about Wednesday season 2?

ViaDeadline, Ortega discussed the story forWednesdayseason 2 while speaking to E! at the Emmy Awards in January.

“I’ve received some scripts now for the second season, and we’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” said Ortega “It’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show [Wednesday] never really changes and that’s what’s wonderful about her.”

“There’s some really good one-liners, and I think everything is bigger,” added Ortega. “It’s a lot more action-packed. I think each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

During an earlier interview withVariety, Ortega said, “We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great.” Ortega also reiterated that the new season will have more horror elements but added that the show won’t get too dark.

“Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously,” said Ortega.

What is Jenna Ortega’s new role behind the scenes?

In a nod to both her rising star in the industry and her part in makingWednesdaysuch a massive success,Jenna Ortegais now a producer on the series moving forward. That gives Ortega more of a say in the creative process as Wednesday’s story continues.

Wednesday season 2 preview

Wednesday co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar gaveNetflix Tuduma brief synopsis for the show’s second season:

“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.”

“Nothing is what it seems in season 2,” Millar added. “Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. It’s the first time she’s returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.”

In a video released in 2024, Ortega, Myers, Sunday, and Doohan spoke about some fan theories about what the upcoming season may include. They also confirmed thatWednesdayseason 2 would introduce a new member of the Addams family. This turned out to be Joanna Lumley’s character, Granny Hester Frump, Morticia’s estranged mother and Wednesday’s grandmother.

What happens in Wednesday season 2, part 1?

In season 2, Wednesday overused her psychic powers to solve crimes, causing her to lose them after the first episode. However, she still has a premonition of Enid’s death before her powers disappear. This twist is very concerning for fans of Enid, as she has become a lovable and crucial part of Wednesday’s life at Nevermore. This has only made the wait for the rest of the season even harder.

Despite her lack of powers, Wednesday is still able to uncover a conspiracy at Willow Hill, where outcasts have been imprisoned and experimented on in an attempt to transfer their powers to “normies.” In the fourth episode, Laurel Gates frees Tyler from captivity, but he pays her back by killing her. Then, in a shocking cliffhanger, Tyler throws Wednesday out the window, with part 1 ending with Wednesday lying on the ground, bloody and out cold.

Who directed the episodes of Wednesday season 2?

After Tim Burton directed the first four episodes ofWednesday, he returned to direct the first, fourth, seventh, and eighth episodes of the second season. Getting Burton to return to the director’s chair shouldn’t have been hard, given that he remains attached to the show as an executive producer.

Working alongside Burton as directors were Paco Cabezas (Penny Dreadful,The Umbrella Academy), who helmed production for the second and third episodes of season 2. Likewise, Angela Robinson (True Blood) directed the fifth and sixth episodes of the new season.

Is there a Wednesday spinoff on the way?

Officially, not yet. Unofficially, Netflix has plans to expand theWednesdayuniverse.Bloombergreported in late 2023 that a potentialWednesdayspinoff centered around Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester is under discussion. However, Netflix has not given the show the green light, nor has Armisen been confirmed to headline the possible series. Armisen would presumably need to sign alongside a creative team before Netflix moves forward with this spinoff.

Aside from Uncle Fester, the two most likely members of the Addams family who could potentially carry their own show would be Gomez and Morticia. The husband-and-wife duo is a package deal and is rarely seen without each other. If Netflix decides to pursue a Gomez and Morticia spinoff, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones would presumably be asked to return.
