The launch ofDeltarune Chapter 3 & 4are on the horizon and fans have waited years for the game to answer questions that have plagued them since completing Chapter 2. Hopefully, Toby Fox will get out of his dog bed and actually reveal some of the mysteries of Deltarune.

UnlikeUndertale, which launched as a complete package, Deltarune is being released over a currently unknown number of chapters, though fans speculate it will max out at seven. To date, two Deltarune chapters have been released for free, while the next two will be sold as a package.

Fox has said that Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4 arelaunching in 2025and each of his status updates suggests that the release is inching ever closer. With Chapter 3 & 4 on the horizon, it’s time to wonder once more about the mysteries that still need to be answered.

Deltarune Father Alvin Knight

10What’s The Deal With Father Alvin?

The Priest Has Something To Hide

Father Alvin might be the most mysterious character in Deltarune’s Light World, even though he hangs out in the background. Despite this, there are hints that he has a much bigger role in the story than anyone realized.

From the mysterious drawing bearing his name in the classroom after Kris and Susie return to the Light World, his strange comments when visiting his father’s grave, and the recurring references to the Boom family being more important in Deltarune, Father Alvin is quietly one of the most important characters introduced so far.

DELTARUNE Chapter 1 Ending Kris

Father Alvin is one of the strongest contenders for being the Roaring Knight, on the same level as Kris. If he’s truly as important as the game suggests, then it’s time for those hints to pay off in Chapter 3 & 4.

9What’s The Purpose Of The Shadow Crystals?

Players Need A Better Reward For Beating The Bonus Bosses

Deltarune hasfeatured two bonus bossesthat can be fought after the story: Jevil in Chapter 1 and Spamton Neo in Chapter 2. Defeating each one will reward the player with a Shadow Crystal, which can be shown to Seam for information about their purpose.

The only thing is, the Shadow Crystals don’t do anything yet. They currently lack a purpose in the game, though it’s suspected that the player will gather more from additional bonus bosses in Chapter 3 & 4.

Undertale Creator Toby Fox Hosts First Ever Interview With Elusive Yume Nikki Developer

Kikiyama has finally shed some light on their development process, which has remained an enigma to fans until now.

Why are the Shadow Crystals important? They’re tied to some of the hardest fights in the game, so surely there is some merit to collecting them. And what happens if the player goes through the story without ever gathering them? Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4 needs to establish why they’re important.

Deltarune Berdly Snowgrave

8What Happened To Berdly In The Weird Route?

Did The Bird Survive Snowgrave?

For a game where choices supposedly don’t matter, Deltarune Chapter 2 ended on a massively diverging storyline. Those who played it normally ended the game with Berdly running around as normal, seemingly unharmed by his experiences in the Dark World.

However, if someone plays the Weird/Snowgrave Route, where Kris commands Ness to seemingly kill Berdly, he doesn’t wake up in the Light World, and the game is ambiguous about his fate.

Did Berdly die in the Light World when his Dark World equivalent was hit with the spell? How will Chapter 3 & 4 handle this seeming major shift in storylines? This is one of the biggest questions fans have had since the Weird Route was discovered, as Berdly is a beloved character whose fate has been hanging in the balance for years.

7What’s Going On In Susie’s Home Life?

Susie’s Story Might Be The Saddest In Deltarune

The first two Deltarune chapters offered hints about Susie’s home life outside of her adventures with the main plot, and they’re not pleasant. It’s heavily suggested that Susie’s dealing with dark things, explaining some of the events seen so far.

Susie’s appearance and capacity for eating everything, including chalk, have suggested to fans that she comes from an impoverished background that she’s trying to hide, one that contrasts with the happy façade of Hometown.

If Chapter 3 prominently features Toriel, then that could be the avenue for learning more, especially considering how well the two got along at the end of Chapter 2. Susie has held Toriel in high regard ever since she was introduced, and this could be the way we learn more about her backstory.

6Why Hasn’t Papyrus Appeared Yet?

It’s Time To Trousle Some Bones

When Sans appeared in Deltarune Chapter 1, fans were ecstatic about meeting Papyrus, his adorable and idiotic brother. The only problem is that he never showed up. That’s no big deal, right? Chapter 1 was extremely short, so surely there wasn’t time to introduce him properly.

Then, Chapter 2 came along, and still no Papyrus, despite Sans referencing his younger brother and assuring the player that they’ll meet in the future.

Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4 Enters Next Stage Of Console Development

Toby Fox has provided another positive update about the development of Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4.

Why has Fox been holding out on showing fans theDeltarune version of Papyrus? He could easily have slotted into the story in Chapter 2, considering how many other Undertale characters are in Hometown. Clearly, Papyrus is being saved for something big, but what exactly?

5What’s Happening With Dess Holiday?

The Mystery Of Noelle’s Sister Needs To Be Solved

The fate of Noelle’s missing sister is one of the biggest mysteries of Deltarune, yet it’s something that’s only been referenced in the game a few times. Dess Holiday has been referenced in the Spamton Sweepstakes, leading fans to believe that she’ll play a role in events to come.

The only thing is, no one knows what happened to Dess. Did she pass away or has she gone missing? Is the mysterious text found in the Deltarune files meant to be Dess, who is somehow trapped within the game itself?

The frustrating thing about Dess is that it could easily not be important to the story, but is just a background mystery for the most diehard fans to ponder over. At any rate, fans need to learn more about Dess in Chapter 3 & 4, just to prove whether she’s relevant to the story.

4What’s The Deal With Onion’s Song?

Is The Song Of The Water Really Important?

Onion (or whatever name the player gives them) is an infuriating figure in the Deltarune world, as they keep prompting Kris to come back the next day to learn more secret information.

In Chapter 1, they can tell Kris they have a secret to tell them the next day. If the player returns in Chapter 2 and acts like Onion’s friend, they’ll say that they hear a song at night, one that reminds them of the sea, and that it’s not a new song. Once again, Onion will tell Kris to return the next day.

So, what’s the deal with the song, and why is it important to the story of Deltarune? Is it connected to the Dark Fountains? Why does this sea monster keep teasing the player with intriguing secrets?

3Who are Mike, C, Tenna, and Pluey?

Deltarune Needs Faces For Names

Deltarune has several named characters who have yet to make an appearance. During the encounters with Spamton in Chapter 2, he repeatedly refers to a character named “Mike”, who fans speculate is the smiling face in the TV seen at the end of the chapter, but this has yet to be confirmed.

How To fight Jevil In Deltarune & Get Broken Keys A, B & C

Here is how to defeat Jevil in Deltarune.

C appears to be Asgore’s landlord and is mentioned only by their initial. Fans speculate this could be Noelle’s mother, who has a holiday-themed name, like Carol or Christmas, but it could also be a brand-new character who may be important if Asgore’s role is expanded in a future chapter.

Tenna and Pluey were mentioned by Toby Foxin a BlueSky post. Nothing is known about these characters, but they will apparently show up in Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4. Knowing Fox, they are probably one-note joke NPCs, but fans will have to wait and see.

2What’s The Deal With The Egg?

Who Is Giving Out The Free Eggs?

There are two instances in Deltarune where the player can find a hidden tree with a mysterious man standing behind it who can give Kris an Egg. These encounters are tricky to find, and the eggs serve no purpose, other than some strange interactions where they can duplicate themselves.

Like the Shadow Crystals, it’s unclear if the eggs will have any bearing on the story, or whether gathering them will reward the player. The fact that they’re so hidden suggests they have some value, or could be linked to a character who has yet to appear.

Or, Fox is playing another joke and getting the fans all excited over useless items. After all, how important can eggs truly be?

1Is Kris The Roaring Knight?

The Evidence Is Piling Up

Chapter 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, as Kris is shown opening a Dark Fountain. This raises all kinds of questions about whether they’ve been the Roaring Knight this whole time, or rather, Kris, without the SOUL guiding them, is responsible for everything happening in the game.

Thing is – would Fox reveal the mystery of the identity of the Roaring Knight so early in the story? There is clearly a lot more going on here than meets the eye. It’s still unclear who opened the previous two Dark Fountains, and the player is controlling Kris when they’re dragged into them.

A lot of evidence is pointing towards Kris being the Roaring Knight, but there are still other candidates for the role, such as Father Alvin. It’s one of the biggest mysteries of Deltarune, and now that we’ve seen Kris’ role in opening the Dark Fountain, we should finally learn more in thenext part of the story.
