David Ramsey is making his return to theArrowVersein a major way. Ramsey, known for playing John Diggle onArrow, is set to reprise the role on several of The CW’s DC shows. Not only that, but Ramsey will be stepping behind the camera to direct multiple episodes of several different series. And, to top it all off, Ramsey is also said to be playing a new mystery character as well, which opens the door wide for speculation of the Green Lantern variety.
According to a new report,David Ramseywill direct five ArrowVerse episodes in total. This includes the new showSuperman & Lois, as well as episodes of the final season ofSupergirl. Additionally, Ramsey will appear as John Diggle in episodes ofSuperman & Lois,Supergirl,The FlashandBatwoman. But the potential speculation comes in withLegends of Tomorrow. Ramsey will also appear in an episode of that show in a mystery role that has yet to be revealed. Fans who watchedArroware undoubtedly going to make the jump to Green Lantern.
For years, fans speculated thatJohn Digglewould become Green Lantern. It never quite happened. However, in theArrowseries finale, John Diggle found a ring that many speculated was a power ring worn by members of the Green Lantern Corps. Given the mysterious nature of his new role onLegends of Tomorrow, it’s not hard to make the leap. David Ramsey had this to say about it in a statement.
“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera. To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”
If we are to assume thatGreen Lantern is coming to the ArrowVerse, it would be a big deal. It would represent the most significant roles for the character in live-action on the small screen to date. Ryan Reynolds starred in the ill-fatedGreen Lanternmovie, which was released in 2011. Interestingly, HBO Max is also developing aGreen LanternTV show that will feature several different versions of the character. Though it seems entirely unrelated to whatever version of the DC Comics hero Ramsey may or may not be playing. But if he does suit up, the door would be open for more Lantern-filled adventures on The CW in the future.
As a director, David Ramsey directed two episodes ofArrow. Mostly, he has been known for his on-screen work. Outside of the DC universe, Ramsey has starred in TV shows such asGhost Whisperer,DexterandBlue Bloods. Some of his movie credits includeDraft DayandAccidental Love.
