One of the newest additions toMonster Hunter Wildsis the Whiteflame Torrent skill for weapons. This is a new status effect for weapons added to the game that will allow you to attack monsters in a new and reliable fashion. Whiteflame Torrent won’t deal constant damage like some of the other status effects in Monster Hunter Wilds, but it does augment your attacks and allow you to deal some extra bursts of damage while you are on hunts.

Critical Jewel [1]
When crafting the Blazing Veiah and choosing decorations for the weapon, you’ll need to consider several options. To have Whitflame Torrent proc more damage, you’ll need to rely on a specific set of armor, so this is where you want to increase your quality of life with the weapon and overall damage. Using the two Critical Jewels will net you more critical damage when getting a critical hit on a monster, while the Draw Jewel will give you more affinity when performing a Draw Attack. The Draw Jewel here can be switched out for something more in line with your playstyle. The extra affinity boost from the jewel is a major part of this build, in particular, so be mindful of that if you do end up switching around jewels in the future.
If you wish to opt out of the Draw Jewel for the extra affinity boost, you can also replace it with several other types of jewels. One good option is a Focus Jewel [3], but to do so, you’ll need to swap out the critical jewel to gain faster Great Sword charge times. This is entirely up to player preference here and won’t cause any major hiccups in the build, but it does alter the overall goal of the build. Replacing Draw with a newCritical Jewel [2], giving you two total Critical Jewels, will at least get you a 34% increase in critical hits.
Optimal Armor to Craft
The best armor for the Whiteflame Torrent build will require armor that will provide the Scorcher II skill.

Reduces incoming damage and prevents damage reactions when hit. Also provides resistance to wind pressure, roars, and tremors.
The goal with this armor combination is to gain the entire set bonus of the Ratholos gear for the Scorcher II skill. This skill will increase additional fire damage after landing an attack, making your Whiteflame Torrent skill deal increased damage per tick that procs on a monster. While Scorcher II is typically reserved for weapons that deal some fire damage, you will be able to slightly increase the damage it does with the Scorcher II skill. When by itself, Whiteflame Torrent will only do 50 damage to monsters, but with the 4-piece Rathalos set, it will be increased to 80 damage. It may not seem like a lot of damage, but when making full use of draw attacks with the Great Sword, it will end up adding to a significant amount of damage when the hunt goes on.

There is a fair amount of available jewels that you’re able to use with this specific set of armor. With a total of 13 jewel slots, you can use almost any combination of jewels for your armor that you’d like. It is recommended that you prioritize skills like Maximum Might, Counterstrike, or Weakness Exploit. Jewels that have been listed above will provide you with fully leveled Maximum Might and Counterstrike with an additional 3 levels to Weakness Exploit. With the Mighty Jewels, you will gain affinity for your weapon while your stamina is full, adding to your Draw Jewel if you have equipped it to the main weapon.
You can switch these around as you see fit, prioritizing the skills you wish to see fully leveled. Some of these jewels are more for quality of life than anything. Combining the Earplugs Jewels, and Charm will negate monster roars, allowing you to attack more often. However, you can switch these jewels out for any that will fit your playstyle the best. Keep in mind that some of the smaller jewels that make hunts easier are still a valid and welcome part of any build.
This build, centered around Whiteflame Torrent, is a special one that focuses on getting you to deal as much damage as possible with the skill. The above combination of armor and weapon skills will bring out the maximum amount of damage possible. With full stamina, you’ll gain a significant affinity bonus, and if you get knocked back by a monster, you’ll get another boost to your attack. This solid build also allows for a ton of player customization to suit their needs. With plenty of jewel slots and the Scorcher II bonus to damage, you can easily take down just about any monster you are looking to hunt.
