Google has recently added two new quality-of-life improvements to YouTube Music:Consistent VolumeandLyric Sharing. As the name implies, Consistent Volume focuses on managing audio levels that can randomly spike between different songs, genres, and content types. You’ve likely experienced wild volume fluctuations if you’ve listened to two different song genres back to back or switched from a song to a podcast. This new feature will help prevent those issues and protect your ears.

Consistent Volume is rolling out on iOS and Android now, and the changelog for the update states the feature will “normalize volume across tracks.” Once you have the latest YouTube Music update, you will need to enable consistent volume in the settings. To do this, go toSettings > Playback & Restrictionsand activateConsistent Volume.
